Greetings to the Participants in the Caravan Beijing-Berlin-Brussels
AISA was very appreciative of the IRU presentation at our recent 45th Annual Meeting in Annapolis, Maryland, U.S. The information shared about the IRU and its pioneering Beijing-Berlin-Brussels (BBB) project for delivering freight from Beijing to Brussels by road transport was well received. It is evident that this project marks an important milestone in the IRU's vision to revitalize the Silk Road and could be of great significance to the American business community, by offering the promise of a reliable alternative means of shipping goods from and to China. With China's seaports becoming increasingly saturated and subject to delays, this is a very timely project. While of obvious significance for China and the Central Asian countries covering the old Silk Road, the development of costeffective, fast and reliable road transport networks across the Eurasian landmass could have an impact on the long term development of the Global Economy allowing this fast-developing region to become far more integrated with developed economies in the West. The American Institute for Shippers' Associations will follow the BBB Caravan with great interest and wish all participants the best of luck in this historic undertaking. |
