Creation of a new transport corridor to allow fast and efficient freight deliveries by road transport from Asia to Europe is in line with the economic policy of Latvia and the interests of the country's manufacturing, trade and transport enterprises. Participation in the Beijing-Brussels Caravan is of special significance for Latvia's international road transport companies which, in cooperation withroad transport operators in China, Kazakhstan and Russia, will in the future transport container freights from China to European countries as within the framework of this project. After Latvia joined the European Union, some of its frontiers became part of theEU external border, which offers additional advantages for freight transit across Latvia's territory to other EU countries. The Latvian sea ports Ventspils,Riga and Liepaja open the way for further transportation of freight by sea. Following the abolition of customs barriers between Latvia and the rest of the EU, the speed of transportation has grown considerably, which in turn has increased the operational potential of the road transport companies. A new transport corridor will facilitate more efficient utilisation of road vehicles owned by Latvian transport companies. The Latvian companies' transport potential and their experience with international carriage haulage over many years guarantee quick and efficient deliveries of Chinese freights to Europe along the new transport road. Road Carriers Assotiation "Latvijas Auto" ?«Latvijas Auto?»member companies conduct their transport operations to more than 30 countries across Europe and Asia. The greatest volumes concern Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria, and the CIS countries.
